I've been a coupon addict lately. There is nothing better than a good bargain. Today on Money Saving Mom there is a coupon code for Borders.com:
"Through August 8, 2008, you can order anything for $5 or less from Borders.com and get it for FREE!
Go here and you can search through the products they offer which are $10 or less. Find something for less than $5, add it to your cart, and proceed to the checkout. (You can checkout as a guest to speed things up if you don't have an account with Borders.)
When it asks for the promotional code, enter: BR41925. Choose to have it shipped to your local store and your total will be $0!"
This coupon code applies to EACH book! Look at what I got and what I paid:
Isn't that awesome?! The kids books I'll use in my classroom & if the other books aren't good I'll add them to my bookmooch!
We went to The Book Thing in Baltimore today for the first time. I found the site online awhile ago and forgot about it until recently. I checked out their website, read some newspaper articles, and reviews about the place. I got so excited that I just had to go there today. It is a bookstore where all the books are 100% free and you can take up to 150,000 books per day per person! It is about 45 minutes from my house and is somewhat close to the Baltimore Zoo.
There are wooden bookshelves lining the place and all the books are neatly placed. Its well lit and just wonderful. I brought along a huge tote bag and had it so full it was too heavy to carry.
I got 17 novels and 2 vintage craft books. If anyone lives in the area you should definitely go there if you love books or know someone who does. It is great! I put Otherwise Engaged on BookMooch (book trading site) because I forgot I already have it!
I just joined book mooch and was wondering if any of you have an account? What you do is add books to your inventory that you are willing to send to other people for free. You get points for adding books and sending books. Then you can use those points to get books from other people. It's pretty cool. I don't like to give books I like away, I always imagine my kids using them someday. But, I added some books that I don't want/need. I added some novels and some knitting books. My account is here. Check it out and if you sign up let me know & we can swap books!
(thats an older picture, i was too lazy to take a new one or find a newer one lol)
I finally got all my books online on my LibraryThing profile. That took awhile. Mostly because a lot of my books are from the 70s and its hard to find covers. I had to do lots of searching or scan my books. Click here to see all my wonderful books. Today the Rescue Mission had a book fair. Paper backs 50cents, hardbacks $1. I got a box and walked down the aisles...hitting people with my box, getting stuck, and overall annoyed. I ended up with a few novels and cookbooks. My mom was with me and offered to pay, which is always great :)
I have been reading a lot lately. Tonight I went online hoping to find a site where I could add the books I am reading, or have read, and rate them. I also wanted a site where I could add people so I could get some suggestions. Well, after some searching I have found the site Library Thing. This is the first I have heard of it, but maybe its popular. So I made a profile, and I will be adding books I have read, or are reading, in 2007. So this is my profile, and if you have one let me know so i can add you to my list. Or if there is a site similar, but better let me know that too!
Today I went thrifting at NESAP in Hampstead. This was only my second time being there, but I really like the place. It is organized so well and there is a pretty good selection. The prices are far too. Today I got 9 books, 5 sets of knitting needles with multiple needles in each set, and a vintage bowl for only $15.75! They have buy one book get one book free, so I saved some money there. The books on average were $1.50. The knitting needles were all 50 cents and the big ones were $1.50. My bowl was $3.50. There were a lot of bowls I liked there, but I don’t even own my own kitchen yet so I didn’t buy them all. My dad said he will build me a chest to keep all my kitchen finds safe until I move out. Here are my finds:
1. My knitting hasnt progressed. I think I need to sign up for knitting classes.
2. I had lunch with my boyfriend. Who will be leaving for tour soon, and I am going to miss him a lot.
3. I found some good things at Goodwill today:
4. I made lemon blossoms:
5. I finally started scanning some pages from books i have thrifted:
